Mark 4:3-25 “…the sower went out to sow;…and some seed fell on the rocky ground…and immediately it sprang up…and after the sun rose, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.”
Mark 4:26-29 “The kingdom of God is like a man who casts seed upon the soil;…and the seed sprouts and grows–how, he himself does not know…when the grain is ripe, he immediately puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.”
How many times we see the seed falling on rocky ground. Where someone is so excited about Christianity but then leaves the church shortly as 1 John states – “they went out from us but they were not really of us” (1 John 2:19).
This is salvation by “man’s will.”
In Mark 4:26-29 salvation is much more organic. It even states “he knows not how” which is exactly what Christ stated to Nicodemus in John 3:8 “the wind blows where it wishes and you hear its sound, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going, so is everyone who has been born of the Spirit.” With evangelism, all that is left to do is “put out the sickle because the harvest has come.”
This is salvation by “God’s will.”
Lord, help us to be faithful to the truth of your word.
