Are you shocked by the news? – Romans 1

Romans 1:28-32 “God gave them over to an unfit mind to do those things which are not proper…[and] they not only do the same [sins], but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.”

Romans 1 speaks of the consequence of knowing God through His creation, recognizing innately that there are consequences for rejection, and yet continuing on in sin resulting in a useless mind and foolish heart.

Does any of this bring to mind what is happening in the U.S. and in the world currently? It should. Are we shocked? We shouldn’t be – God has been warning about this all along.

Because of denying God, we see people with a mind that can only produce what is improper.

Anarchy and chaos come from minds that have removed God. Furthermore, they also seek to ruin the character of those who disagree with them. Such is our current cancel culture.

They even go one step further as Romans 1:32 states “…they give hearty approval to those who practice [rejection and sin].”

In other words, their sin has reached a point where they receive vicarious satisfaction in the sinful deeds of others. They actually support and admire the sinning sinner.

This reminds me of another verse. In Revelation 11, two witnesses which God sends during the Tribulation to preach the Gospel, are finally murdered by the AntiChrist and required to lie in the street for three and one-half days.

How does the world respond?

Revelation 11:10 explains “And those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them and celebrate and send gifts to one another…”

Their response? Happy Dead Witnesses Day.

Misery loves company; birds of a feather, or thick as thieves. Regardless of the cliche, membership in the majority mob will not overcome the wrath of God and His true justice, as Paul warns in Romans 2:5-6 “because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of … the righteous judgment of God, WHO WILL REPAY TO EACH ACCORDING TO HIS WORKS:”

"It wasn't a potential atonement actuated by the sinner, it was an actual atonement initiated by the savior."
